New Kings of Divide and Rule

“Divide and Rule” the policy that has helped British rulers to keep intact their kingdom over the Indian sub continent for centuries. It was thought that with the independence and democratic set up this policy will die its natural death with time. Does it happen in our country? Surely the answer is not an affirmative one, considering the situations that even after a more than half of decade still we are not Indians but still are Punjabi, Marathi, Gujrati, Bengali, Tamil, South Indian, Assamee or Sindhi. Will you believe about one third population of America is of the citizens without American origin but they all are Americans.

Why this happens only in India? Minor things that can be overlooked at any moment become an issue of mass consideration. It might be the dress code of Tennis sensation Sania on the playing fields or the recent statement of Film Star turned politician Hema Malini with respect to North Indian especially people from U.P.

This was happening in past only due to politicians and politics because we were unknown with the art of living with these things and differentiate them to keep the politics away from our day to day life. It was real non pleasing status that we have reached destination where even our students were divided on the basis of casts. Thank to God slowly but surely [within a short span of 50 years] we had learned that many of politicians were the new carriers of “Divide and Rule” and for their self started using common citizen to achieve their own aims and objectives without bothering about National or social up-liftment.

Technology has made our life enriched with ever most comfort but this has also produce new carriers of “Divide and Rule”. It is fact that there is rate race for the top spot in the electronic media and nobody wishes or affords to be loser on the TRP grounds. This can be reflecting from the recent Hema Malini incident. Fortunately I have watched this entire episode very carefully what I have saw and heard was
Reporter: North Indians in Mumbai are not satisfied as they fail to get the desired status for them?
Hema: If they fail to get desired status they can go back.

Hema’s comment was just to produce a humor but these TRP thirsty News channels has started projecting this statement as the insult of North Indians especially citizens of U.P. The episode ends with the apology by Hema Malini for non committed sin. I wish to leave all of you with two questions

Is the apology of Hema Malini will remove the wounds created by so called insult and humiliation?

Will we allow these TV News channels to rule over us by there this policy of “Divide and Rule”?

India: Political and Electoral Reforms

We Indian are not just became habituated with the corruption by the politician but also had learned the art of living with it. Otherwise what else is preventing us for raising our voice against it? People says India has changed a lot, the days of dynasties are over, No dear nothing is changed if you think deeply, though on a visible change is that know people have choice of electing rulers of own choice, where as in the past it was destiny that who will be the ruler.If the present political environment which on run towards being worst with time remain in continuation surely India will be heading to face a dictatorship in very near future and what the bare thought freedom we are enjoying will become a thing of past. So dear friends this is right time for awaking, I am calling especially youth to come forward and work for the most needed political and electoral reforms which are the need of hour to keep intact our status of being citizen of a democratic set up.

Political Reforms:

Surely the our present political situations have reached to status of being liable for undergoing a renovation and to make the political sky of the country, pollution free and more worth for living following reforms must be implemented with immediate effect.

** Introduction of Law Council to look after, the review and reconstruction of the constitution of the country, define the duties and responsibilities of public representatives, beside fixing their salaries to appropriate and reasonable level and keep on working for rules and regulations that can meet with our changing social demands. This will leave government with the only implementation of laws. How ever every suggestion of this council will be under go a debate in both the existing houses by the elected public representative before being called law.

Construction of Law Council: There will be just 25 persons appointed by President by India for a term of three years with fix remuneration of Rs. 25,000/- per month to each. The sole and one eligibility criteria will be that these persons should not be related with any political party directly or indirectly and selected from various fields as fallows

** We are one of the biggest populated countries and if we take the problem of residential area and the unaffordable expenses made on the security of Ministers and other politicians my suggestion will look worth gold.I suggest construction of multistory buildings for the residence of Ministers and other political personalities as this will not only solve the problem of residential area but will also bring the security expenses to minimum.

** There must not be different set of laws for the people on the basis of religion or the area [as are there in present constitution]. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, whole land is one country India hence there must be a universal and same set of laws. Similarly we are being known as Indian to world so there is no need of different sets of laws which divide us into various religions.

** Politics is no more a social service. It has started journey on the roads of professionalism and like other professions started to run in heredity. In the laws of our land there is no provision of making expenses on the security of professionals, I suggest the same status for the politicians. There is high life risk is involved in the professions related with coal mines and armed forces and peoples are entering in these profession on their own risk. Why we wish to keep apart politic from these high risked professions?

** There should not be any type of reservation, as every candidate will compulsory submit plan of development for the area before the election [see electoral reforms] so it will make no difference who is representating which constituency? Imprisonment [for any reason] will be treated as a disqualification.

Electoral Reforms

** There must be a minimum level of education for being liable for contesting in elections. My suggestions are For Village level Bodies : At least 10 years of schoolingFor City Level Bodies : At least 12 years of schoolingFor State Level : At least Graduation For National Level : At least Post Graduation or a professional degree

** It will be mandatory for every candidate to submit year wise plan of development for the area, indicating year wise proposed details of expenses to be made from the discriminatory fund.

** An elected candidate must published year wise asset details of self and relatives in a comparable table format highlighting the additions at the bottom of table.

** All elected candidate must publicized the achievements regarding the development of the area on yearly basis with quoting commitments.

** During the membership no one will be allowed to hold any post in the co-operative institution or NGOs [even honorary].

** An elected candidate will compulsory will remain present in and available for meeting with public in the constituency.

** All the seating members have to vacant their government residence at least 15 days before the election and should submit such certificate issued by appropriate authorities before the electoral officer of area.

** An elected candidate will be liable for calling back if fails in Publishing year wise asset details of own and relatives. Completing less than 80% of the committed development. Being present in at least 24 public functions held in the constituency during the year.

** In the case of call back of elected candidate, one who was second in the election will be declared elected for the remaining period of term of house and will work according to submitted plan of development for that specific period.

Makar Sankrant: First Hindu Celebration of Year

India is known as the country of festivals and Hindus are masters of not only giving the religious touch but also the glamorous feeling to each and every community celebration. The only Hindu festival that falls on a fix date of solar calendar year i.e. on the 14th January.

Our present science has recognize importance of Sun for human life and other livings on the earth only few centuries back but as the Hindus were succeeded for that many centuries back hence they have dedicated this festival to Sun and started worship of sun as the God. In fact this festival is celebrated to mark the transition of Sun from zodiac sign Dhanu [Sagittarius] into the zodiac sign Makar [Capricorn], from this day Sun’s journey in north is started and eventually the day [our six months] of Devtas [Gods] starts hence this is also known as Uttrayan or Devayana. Due to this reason among the all twelve transitions of Sun this transition is rated most important. Hindu Masters were full of wisdom in behavior hence they started a tradition of relating cosmetic events with day to day life in the form of festivals so that not only the life of common people become cheerful but also they learn the importance of values for human life. Makar Sankrant is the festival which is celebrated through out the India in various form just as

Uttar Pradesh and Bihar : “Khichiri” word is used for this festival. The day also marks the beginning of “Magh Mela” one month long celebration.

South India: Mainly as the “Pongal” and for the formers it holds importance even more than Deepavali. Formers prepare a dish from rice, pulses, Ghee [Oil] and milk and present to family deity and God Sun as offering. In the Karnataka people prepare a special dish “Ellu” from coconut and sesame seeds and greet each other “Ellu bella thindu, Olle Maathu Aadu” [Eat sesame seed and speak only God].

Maharashtra: On this day people exchange Tilgud a sweet dish prepared from the Til [sesame seeds] and Gud [Jaggery] though in the modern days Gud is replace by sugar. Similarly traditional words “Tilgud Ghiya Aain Gaud Gaud Bola” [Take Tilgud and speak sweet] are slowly become irrelevant in the noise of “Take Sweet and Be Sweet”. Traditionally married women get together are held “Haldi Koonkoon” with the exchange of utensils and good wishes for the life of husbands.

Punjab: Celebrated as “Maghi” but actual celebrations starts from the day before, celebrated as “Lohari” a place for fire is prepared and all the people start traditional dance “Bhangara and Gida” around this fire place till late night.

In the Assam the festival is celebrated as “Bhogali Bihu” where as in the Gujrat the festival is celebrated almost on the style of Maharashtra. Many tribal celebrate this day as the beginning of New Year especially Bhuya tribal of Orrisa arrange Magh Yatra where house made articles are kept for sale. Kite flying is closely related with this festival and this has giving a touch of International event in the recent years to this Indian festival.

Religious Aspect of the Festival

History reveals that Bhisham Pitamah waited for this day on the arrow bed for death as on this day person who dies get freedom from transmigration. Where as King Bhagirath, whose Tapsaya brought Ganga on earth has performed Trapan [especial worship for Mukati of ancestors] to make free 60,000 sons of Maharaja Sagar from the curse at Ganga Sagar [Place in West Bengal]. On this day Lord Vishnu buried heads of Asurs [evil forces] to end the terrorism caused by them. The most important reason of celebration is visit of father [Sun] to the house of son [Shani], usually this pair of father son doesn’t show the natural affection but on this day father himself come to house of son. Day of [duration equal to our six months] Devtas [Hindu Gods] starts from this day is the other reason because worship must be made in day time.

Socio Economic Aspect of the Festival

This day is treated as end of winter season on this duration of day and night reaches to equality and here onwards day start to become with more duration that provide more time to work in sun light. India’s economy is based on agriculture and Sankrant symbolizes the onset of the harvest season.

This festival brings the lessons of respect for elders, living with simplicity, Friendship and expression of affection of father towards the son. Makar Sankrant stress the value and importance of community living. Kite flying adds fun to the celebrations.

Usually on the day people have bath in the river Ganga or any other river and worship rising sun by offering water and flowers.

Our Present Education System and Social Demands

From Kashmir to Kanyakumari every corner of our country is going with the same thought process about the education standard, which is on decline every where. Just think, our present education system was designed and developed by the British rulers more than 200 years back with a specific aim of producing literate class and humble servants for the British government. The social status and atmosphere has changed a lot since than and specially after the independence we are facing new social demands, but still we are willing to fight the new war, and prefer go into betel field with out dated weapons at least no change in the education system is suggesting that. I have spent almost 25 years of life in field of education as Science Teacher and I personally know that many of even convent educated H.S.C. [12th standard] passed students are unable to write an application for the improper cleaning by the local city authorities or they doesn’t know whom this application should be addressed.

Background and Need of Change

The First and most importance thing is, changing our attitude that one who is educated through or knows English is really educated. The days of British rules are history of decade back. We are citizen of Democratic India and not the British India. During the British rule more stress was given on learning English because easiness of conversation of rulers and to keep Indians in the status of mental slaves they [British rulers] have related government jobs with the degrees as during that period Hindu dignity [Here by word Hindu I mean the Indian life style and not any religion] was at its lowest point due to rule of non Hindus for several centuries so no one was there to protest this way of education. Unfortunately the situations after the independence to country were not conducive for any change in the education system or our political leadership failed to look in the future social demands of education.

Education is instrument of social change and social change creates new demands that should be fulfilled by the education. It means Education, Social Change and Social demands are co-related. What we are observing in our present socio environment that our society has changed a lot, we are facing new social demands but our education is still following the system set by the British rulers some centuries back. It is fact that our technological advancement, our natural resources and our human power is leading our country towards the verge of being world leaders but if we fail to change our education system not only this chance will go bagging but also it will leave us in waiting for many centuries to come.

Why the present system is not coping with Social Demands

Our present Education system was developed by the Europeans and naturally they have considered only their way of living. Point about which we are going to talk is cause of failure only in Bharat but also in many other countries where boundaries of life are not limited from birth to death.

There are two thought streams about the life in practice among the most human societies, one fallowing the Hindu [Indian] way and other that stress on achievements of physical comforts. We are Hindus but our education system is not based on the Hindu thought stream of life.

The present education system was designed with aim of achieving the physical comforts and creating desire for it. When our thought process is trained in this manner we become habituate to accept that we are only body and our aim of life become restricted up to achievements of happiness of the body. We also accept that not only our all relations with our parents, wife, children and friends are on the basis of our body but also physical happiness is the thread which tides us with each other. Natural result of this life style and thought process is that our vision become limited to self only, we can’t expand our thought and vision beyond and above self to see and think about the true social life. Our all actions become centered and concentrated only towards the aim of achievement of self physical comforts. This is the root cause and basis which makes the present education system, unable to cope with our changing our demands.

Standard of Living: A reality or mirage

Everybody in the world is seems to much conscious about the standard of living especially the working and high salary paid class is investing precious time in the discussing and maintaining it. With the changing time standard of living has also changed many faces, many materialistic articles from the list of luxurious category are today included in the list of commonly needed article category. Car [four wheeler vehicle] is no more status symbol but is indicative of Standard of living. Refrigerator an appliances of elites is become the essential household appliances.

Let we think what we do mean by the standard of living, my interpretation of the phrase is not the one that commonly considered by the masses. The usual meaning of the phrase for the masses is a life style loaded fully with the articles of physical comforts. Just think physical comforts are endless and demand for them is intended to grow with the monetary inflow in the life. In the life of a common person income is bound to face ups and downs hence judging the standard of living on this basis is not the proper one. Consider a person using car for traveling the distance of residence and work place; due to certain economic crises he forced to use public transport system for the purpose will you say that it has lowered his standard of living? Certainly most of the people will answer it affirmatively because to most of us standard of living and physical comforts are the synonym. In fact this will generate unhappiness and discomfort and from here the mirage of living standard starts. As we are used to rate our living standard on the availability of comforts and our present education system, instead of rectifying our mistake, is adding more fuel for the endless race of earning for physical comforts and this false interpretation is making our life filled with stress and tensions.

The true measuring scale of standard of living must be counted on the basis of speaking truth, character and obeying the law of the land [My interpretation of the phrase] by a person. As we are become habituate of calculating the height of living standard on the basis of availability of physical comforts hence we are running towards the continuously widening valley of sorrow and distress and our life is in filled with the greedy social and political leadership. Sooner we change our norms for standard of living, sooner we will on the path of coming out of the mirage of living standard and realize the reality of the phrase. Remember it was the not physical comforts but the simple living and high thinking that have made Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, father of nation for a country with over 100 carores of human population.

New Year

Whole world is busy to say god by to 2006 and welcome 2007. Just think during your celebration planning have you ever thought for the reason behind? In a world, where no action is autonomous, surely every celebration will be with a reason, but who cares? What we usually do, buy new cloths, precious unique gifts, go for outing, enjoy the time with friends and relatives and conveniently forget the event for the rest of the year. All our preparations doesn't seems to sufficient for providing a true pleasure of just few hours as at the end of day most of us feel that some thing was missing from the celebrations. This is happening because presently even our celebrations are slowly and gradually are going to become stress of market demand.
Why the Festivals / Celebrations
Every festival / celebration must have a purpose to make us merry. Hindus, the oldest human race of the earth are with not only religious but also social reason for every festival / celebration. See Diwali [apart from the religious reason] is celebrated to make the houses clean, to get rid of the insects and other ill effects of rainy season. Holi is celebrated to mark the end of winter season. Even our food stuffs related with festivals are having a vision for the health. A lot of Hindu festivals are celebrated during the rainy season, traditionally with fast on the day, this is because during the rainy season chances of water pollution are on the higher side and to protect ill effect of this, there is provision of fasts.
Think for this [For what this is written]
Dear we are in India. A country that pays homage to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi by his remembrance as the father of nation. The generations of post independence era, saw Bapu in the photographs [in the most he is wearing a Dhoti] but as our present educational system is not generating curiosity for knowing about ancient India hence most of the young ones doesn't know the reason that forces overseas educated lawyer to spent whole life in single cloth Dhoti.
During the visit to Calcutta Gandhi Ji saw few women washing cloth at the bank of river Hugali and all were wearing only sari as the single cloth covering their bodies, At that moment Bapu said "If this is the reality of my country than I have know right to wear a three piece full suit" and from that day he started wearing Dhoti as cloth for his body.
Dear just think for celebrating New Year eve, which is in fact is not even an Indian festival, when you are going to pay a some of thousands for a single Dinner of your family and friends, not even for a second, your mind thinks about every third Indian, who fail to manage even the meal of both times of the day. Just think, if you can save some money from your that celebration and donate that for the deprived people surely you will help the purpose of celebrating Christmas and New Year.

Dasam Pitah : Dhan Sri Guru Govind Singh Ji

Among the Sikh Gurus, Adi Guru Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji are worshiped as the founder of Sikh tradition, While the Guru Govind Singh Ji are the founder of the Khalsa panth. As the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegbahadur Sahib decided to scarify life for the Hindus, who were threatened to kill by King Aurangzeb if the refuse to accept Islam, hence at the tender age of Nine years Guru Govind Singh Ji got the Guru ship.
Guru Govind Singh Ji were born on the 22nd Day of December 1666 at Patana. According to Hindu calendar on the day of Pohu Saptami. Though Nanakshahi calendar says that birthday of Guru Sahib will be celebrated on January Fifth every year but as this calendar is still not in use.
It was brutal actions of King Aurangzeb that has force to Guru Sahib to introduce Khalsa Panth. To bring back enthusiasm and dignity of the community, which was on the lowest point due to rule of Non Hindu Kings for several decades, Guru sahib started this new "Khalsa" panth. According to Guru Sahib
"Aagya Bhai Akal Ki Tab hi Chalayieo Panth" [It was order of the omnipresent God, following which I am establishing this stream of worship.]
Guru Sahib decided that all followers of Khalsa panth will always carry the following five identification marks with them, all the five are starting with alphabet "K" and are namely Kada, Kachha, Kangha, Kesh and Kripan. Guru Sahib were not only spiritual saint and incarnation of the God but were also a soldier as they fought many battles against the Muslim rulers.
Today we are observing that there is fight for Guru ship among the most of panths of Hindus. It was Guru Sahib's vision to future under which Sahib Ji said that with them physical body journey that started with Adi Guru Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji will come to end. All the Sikh will worship Granth Sahib [originally complied by fifth Guru Guru Arjun Dev Ji and reconstructed by Guru Govind Singh Ji] as the living Guru.

To guide the Sikhs on the path of spirituality and self realization Guru Sahib made the provision of Panj Piyara [Five Beloved]. During the recreation of Granth Sahib, Guru Govind Singh Ji were inspired by the spiritual creations of previous Gurus and created world's most powerful spiritual creation "Jaap Sahib" but did not include this in the Granth Sahib. All the creations of Guru Sahib are compiled in the separate volume "Dasam Granth". The most significant social work of Guru Sahib was to bring back the courage and self respect among all the Hindu.

Education System: Success Analysis

Education Which is said to be Third Eye of Human beings, because it makes us aware of current scenario and makes us perfect match with social surroundings. Education is also aimed at making one, equipped with the abilities, essential for earning the monetary sufficient for making the life enriched with all the necessary comforts. Is our present 10+2+3 three layered education system is coping with the aims of education? Is it helping our youth to gain the skills of earning money? Is the present education system is making the young ones aware of current socio status and filing their life with necessary manners and values to develop the attitude of social behaviour ?

In the olden golden days India was not only spiritual leaders of the world but also was setting standards for education in the form of Takshshila and Nalanda Vishawa Vidyalaya. Students of these institutions were not only said to masters of their subject but also seen as the person of wisdom. During the British rules these self respecting educated people were proving a hurdle for the rulers hence Mecale was come in the picture and the base of present education system, with aims of preparing the dedicated government servants was implemented.

In the year 1947 when we were allowed to live in the atmosphere of freedom and self decision, partition of the country has diverted attention and most important aspect education was left as it is. In the coming years a few changes were made by the introduction of present 10+2+3 system but the most damaging aspect “preparing the humble and honest government servants” was left untouched. This is reason of student unrest in our country. Let us have a look on our present education system. A students entered in the schooling at the age of 5 years and become graduate at the age of 20 years [22 years in the case of professional graduation like Medicine, Law and Engineering etc.] out of these 15/17 years of education, first 10 years are only for making the student literate and for making capable of gaining the knowledge. For the graduation of the subject remaining 5/7 years are used.

After the education up to level of graduation these young ones when enter in the society for the actual life, they realize that they are good for nothing. Even the professional graduates instead of going for self sufficient ness are looking forward for the jobs. This is reason for the huge unemployment. The youth is left alone without the skills of using their abilities for the implementation of the yields of their imagination powers. They also found themselves lacking in the field of courage required for the going with the innovative ideas. The recent human world history is also supporting this with a few handfuls like Dr. Hargobin Khurana and Bill Gates. Some one may that in comparison of our forefathers we are achieving the technical advancement at vigorous rate hence the use of wisdom, Intelligence, Imagination and innovation is on the higher side, but dear if you consider the population and successful innovative person ratio you will realize the truth. Similarly if you take the natural resources in consideration, which are on the decline continuously due to, burst in the population, you will be able to see the adverse side of the picture.

The failure of our present education system can be illustrated with
1] Day by day increase in unemployment
2] Unreal thought of the young ones that they are more educated than their elders.
3] Unable to utilize the huge natural resources that are available at our disposal.
4] Increasing attitude of gaining the physical wealth by all means.
5] Fearless corruption and bribery
6] Increase in self centric behavior and breaking of social rules.
7] Migration of professional students to other countries for the sack of better future aspect. It is not shocking news that about 30% of High salary paid staff of Microsoft is with Indian origin.
8] My experience at internet also suggest that our youth instead of getting the benefits of this huge knowledge world wasting time in the passing useless message and working as the slave for the some or other dominating foreign MNC.
9] Vanishing of the respect for the Indian Life Style and Socio economic structure. I recall the Hindi movie “Virasat” where hero instead of using his wisdom for the growth of ancestral crop cultivation wishes to start a chain of fast food centers. This is the real mirror image of thought process of our present youth.

Greeting Cards: Expression of Emotions

Every living has a natural tendency for the expressing self though it is true that human are most expressive of all because among the livings only human is enriched with variety of ways to express self where as others have very limited style of expression. In India even the rivers are considered among the livings that's why there is tradition of worshiping of rivers. Floods are the anger expression of river, where as helpless emotion is expressed by no water or very less water. Springs are expressive of the reproductive season of plants.

It was urging of expression that has forced human to add vocabulary to life, Invention of languages and printing technologies are to assist only this human tendency and latest addition to this are the e-mails and scraps. It is not the search of friends but the easy availability of space to express self is attracting youth to the portals like orkut and is going to make the orkut owner world's richest person by the year 2009. The increasing number of such portals is none else but is attempts of being benefited from this expressive tendency of human. Human beings are expressive but with that they also wish to adopt a unique style, different from others and very specific of them. This is the most probable reason for the existence of Greeting cards even in this modern electronic era. Diwali is celebrated just few days back and the festive season is on hence it is common to see a group of teens in shopping moll or gift centre, engaged in choosing a proper gift card for their love one. In fact they are searching the word group or the phrase to match with their expression style and wish to remain unique too. Read the following few line just for humor a young lady went to a store card and spend almost whole day in search of one proper card at lost a card match with her expression style and owner was at respire of relief but this was temporary as the next question from the lady was surprising as she wants a hundred of the same card, any way shopkeeper booked the order and promise the delivery within two days. You will say where is humor in this? The lady might be executive of some company and choosing a card for sending to clients. Dear humor was in words “You are the first person whom I am sending this card with virgin love emotions of my heart" that were printed on the card.

Here the question which is irritating my mind and forcing to write is not what word group, message or phrases are printed on these cards but is that why a particular one is selected by some one while others rejects the same? Why this again and again?

News, A scene on T.V. screen has filled my mind with this question; I tried to analyses my thought process and concluded a few things which I wish to share with all of you

India; a country with world fame of secular region, A land of Buddha, birth place and work field of non violence principle of Mahatma Gandhi, A piece of land where “Sarva Dharam Sambhav” is not a slogan but a life style, A place with such strong communal harmony that all other countries dreaming about to have the same, Today seems to be place of unborn fire streams and waiting for smallest of spark for the explosion.

Today [30-11-2006] three cities of Maharashtra state are under the order of curfew, Almost a full train was set on the fire, some Hundreds of buses are damaged, A few innocent people forced to face untimely death, High ways were forcedly kept without traffic for several hours, Why all this happen because, some hundred km. away in Kanpur, a person with ill mentality has performed an action, for which a person with sound mind will not think even during the sleeps. Dr. Baba Sahib Ambedkar, the mind behind the creation of constitution of democratic setup of our country was the leader of mosses. When we say that Baba Sahib is the leader of Dalits [Lower caste people] in fact it is a kind of injustice with the work and humanitarian attitude of this great knowledgeable leader of the masses.

Presently in our country we are on the ways of setting a trend of withholding life for the reasons that can be solved in other ways. We are in the democratic set up where the number plays the most important and crucial role, but think calling band, with holding the city life and holding the social and communal harmony on hostage to show one’s number is a democratic way of protest? Surely not because it over ruled the democratic rights of others. Instead of playing at the hands of politicians we have to learn the art of handling so called new emperors immersing in India after all we have crossed the fifty of living in a democratic set up and at least now should start taking advantage of our experience.

Today it is common thing that as because so and so place, due to some action, as our emotions are hurt, our Devi Devata were insulted, so we are calling for band in our city and taking out peaceful agitation to protest that. Just think at the most of the times this results in the loss of social and personal properties and even sometimes life of some innocent citizens. Though we have crossed fifty of independence but still we have to learn the art of utilizing our right of expressing self without being obstacle to the same right of others. We are from the country of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna, they have shown us the path of tackling the devil forces; just create the situations where the back up team of theses forces can be isolated from the rest of the society and than can be treated accordingly.

A recall a scene from recent hit “Lage Raho MunnaBhai” in which Gandhi Ji was expressing his desire of removing all his statues. If we fell that these statues are going to become an obstacle for our social harmony why not we are thinking in terms of implementing this hypothetical desire of our father of Nation to keep intact our real social harmony. Remember these personalities were great and worked for the society. Instead of erecting the statues the real homage to these elites, is the fallowing the way of life suggested by them and implementing their way of functioning in our day to day life will take our country on the path of progress. Otherwise it will become our destiny to face this situation some time on the name Rama, some time labeled with Allah or some time with any of our leader like this time Dr. Ambedkar. We have to remember

Jab Ramzan mein Hai Ram Aur Deepawali Mein Ali
Jhagadoo se kiya apana kam apani Dosti Bhali.
When there is Ram part of word Ramzan and Ali of the word Deepavali what we have to do with fighting, our friendship is better for that.

I wish to conclude my writing with the note it is necessity and demand of the present era to develop a social attitude of looking at such incidents not as the insult of our God / our religious faith or of our beloved leaders. We should learn look at incidents of such type as act of person of disturbed mentality. This is the only way of keeping our social, communal and nantional harmony intact and safe gaurding individual and national properties beside the saving precious human livies lossed.

Hindutva and Tolerance

Let me start the topic with two very simple looking questions. What is Hindutva or Hinduism? What is Tolerance? If I have been asked to describe the story of recent box office hit Hindi movie “Lage Raho Munna Bhai” in one single word, my answer will be tolerance. You might say that it was non violence of Gandhi ji which forced British rulers to make India free but dear if you look in the life of Mahatma Gandhi you surely will conclude that it was not the non violence but was the tolerance which was centre of life of this great leader from the India. Starting with the incident of cab driver in England to the partition of the country, life of Gandhi Ji was revolving round this word tolerance.

What do we mean by this word tolerance? Oxford dictionary say “willingness or ability to tolerate”. The general concept about the world is the “sustaining against the prolonged strain” but if we see the meaning more purposefully, we can be drawn “Ignoring person or situation and preventing self, willingly from taking any action, being capable of which” is the tolerance. We the Hindus are the most ancient user of tolerance a Sanskrit phrase “Sarva Dharama Sambhav” is an ideal expression not only for the co-existence but also for the tolerance, because co-existence is almost impossible with being the masters of practicing tolerance.

Now what is Hindutva? Where did this world Hidutva originate? We all know that World’s oldest knowledge books Vedas were written in Himalaya. In all probabilities word Hindu seems to be related with this oldest civilization of the creators of Vedas. Hindutva is union of two words Hindu and Tatva [Element]. Hindutva is the one who is with the element of Hindu, thus we can say that like the Islam and Christianity Hindutva is not a religion because like former two neither there are certain religious rules, Organisation nor is founded by a single person. Hindutva was and is the life style of those who are the parts of ancient human civilization, for whom Vedas are the base of knowledge and tolerance is the key of social life. History also supports that Hindus are practicing tolerance from very ancient time just recall killing of King Shishupal during the Rajyasu Yagya performed by King Yudhistra at Inderprasth. When Bhisham Pitamah was invited by Lord Krishna as the person, worshiped first at Yagya, Shishupal become angry and started series of ill and abuse words not only for Pitamah, Pandvas but also for Shrikrishan, all the gathering knowing the powers of Lord Krishna were looking towards him, who was silently making lines on floor with his foot thumb, As the Shishupal said abuse words about the queen Dropadi, Shrikrishna stood up and addressed the gathering “This was my tolerance, as I have promised to my aunt and mother of Shishupal, that I will tolerate hundred sins of Shishupal and the lost abuse word was the 101 hence I am warning Shishupal.” Shishupal can’t understand that and kept on with the abuse words which forced Lord Krishna to cut Shishupal’s head with Sudarshan Chakara.

Effects of Tolerance

Tolerance equipped us with the ability of adaptation. How the Hindus are masters of practicing tolerance this also can be illustrated by the huge variety of customs and traditions among the Hindus. In a time of month or so we will celebrate New Year Eve, does this celebration have Indian roots? Certainly not this is an adaptation of culture from European customs and traditions under the influence of British rule, the same can be said about the Valentine Day and growing club and pub culture.

It is fact that, it was our tolerance that allowed Mughal dynasty and British’s to rule this country for several hundreds of years; some people even say that it was uterus of tolerance of our political leaders from which Pakistan got birth. I am not sure about it but sure of the fact that it is tolerance of we Indians that even after so many wars still we are interested in peace talks with Pakistan.

We Hindus, though practicing tolerance from quite long time but surely we lost it momentary and that has resulted in the formation of various religious streams among the Hindus just as of Buddhism, Jainism and so on. Similarly as in Hindus God has taken many Avtars and followers of these avtars of God are becoming separate religious identity again due to momentary loss of tolerance.

Make Tolerance Your Strength

Tolerance, ability to adopt, Tolerance, the power of ignoring, Tolerance, the exhibition of self control, tolerance, the inheritance quality of Hindus, be sure to make it a strong point of character and life .Remember it is only tolerance that has kept us and will keep us tied with each other and in spite of real huge variation in religious faiths and sets of worship styles,is allowing us to be called as Indians. It is also most essential that we should ably project our tolerance in such a way no one in the world dare to think of taking disadvantage of our this unique quality tolerance.

Tolerance can be said as an attitude also and like other attitudes, we have to learn the art of developing it. Fortunately in our community ,to considerable levels still combine family system is in the existence and this is the perfect ground for leaning the art of developing an attitude of tolerance. Remember forgiveness is the hardest act to perform and tolerance is the success key for it.

Martyrdom Day of Nineth Sikh Guru Dhan Sri Guru Teg Bahadur

Today is the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji. On this day Guruji scarified their life for awaking the whole Hindu community against the brutle actions of Muslim King Aurangzeb and his decision of spreading Islam under the shelter sword. The day can also be known as the foundation stone for the formation of Sikh religion as brutally killing of father has opted tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji with the establishment of Sikh Panth. According to the Guru words “ Chidya Naal Baj Ladoon taan Guru Gobin Naam Rakhaun” [ if I am wrong my sikh friends are requested to correct me] I am Guru Gobind Singh only if I make my sparrows capable of fighting with hawks. Today is the 331st anniversary of the day.

Those were the days; When King Aurnagzeb was in full swing of spreading Islam in India. He warned Kashmiri Pandits either to accept Islam or be ready for the painful, untimely death. Kashmiri Pandits looked in the mater seriously and concluded that only Sikh Guru Teg Bahadur is capable of rescuing them from their possible humiliation at the hands of King Aurangzeb and will protect them from accepting Islam. Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib asks Kashmiri Pandit to agree conditionally with King Aurangzeb. The condition was that if King made Guru Ji to accept Islam by any means than all will accept it otherwise king will not ask them for it again. King Aurangzeb found this proposal more attractive as he thought that not only Kashmiri Pandits but all the followers of Sikh Gurus will accept Islam if he succeed, so he ordered for the prisonment of Guru. In the prison he made arrangements for high physical and mental punishments for the Guru Sahib. Guru Sahib, in a discussion with son Gobind Singh Ji, before going for prison, has said “Listen son! Time has come when some body has to scarify life to awake all Hindus”. All the physical and metal tortures were proved insufficient for making Guru Sahib agreed to accept Islam. King Aurangzeb was not ready to face the defeat so he ordered death sentence for Guru Sahib and on this day Guru ji were brutally killed at Chandani chowk Delhi. In the memory of this incident Gurudwara at place is named as the Shish Ganj Gurudwara. Public in general was remain away from the funerals of Guru Sahib with fear of being identified by the soldiers of Aurangzeb.

After the death of Father, Gobind Singh Ji was sworn in as the Tenth Guru. Guru Gobind Singh Sahib were determined to produce a generation that don’t cares about self life and dare to face and fight the injustice so Guru Sahib established “Khalsa Panth” with the statement “I am giving some identification marks for these so my these disciples will be identified even a single is present in the crowd of thousand peoples.” Today these people are called as Sikh or most commonly Sardar Ji.

Step out from the world of misunderstanding

I wish to utilize this opportunity to clarify a hard truth about this brave and God fearing Sikh community. In our country Sardar Ji Ke Barah Baj Gaye is taken as the topic of humor. I am going to share with you the true story behind it. [Send to me by one of my e-friend Indu…].

In the year 1739 when Sultan Nadar Shah was on his way back with the huge Indian wealth and about 2200 Hindu women. Sardar Jassa Singh, the commander of newly formed Sikh Army of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, attacked on the convoy of sultan and rescued all the women, all this happened at mid night round the 12’o clock. After that it happened several times that any convoy going out of India with Hindu women were attacked at midnight by the soldiers of Sikh army and a kind of fear started among these robbers for the 12’o clock. The fear of attack by Sikh Army was become so deeply rooted in the minds of Mugal Soldiers that many of them started shouting in sleep “Be careful! Sardar ji ke Barah Baj Gaye” and become reason of humor for fellow soldiers on next morning.

Dear this is the reality of Sardar Ji Ke Barah Baj Gaye. It is very unfortunate that unknowingly we become part of tradition in which the above sentence is used as the humorous comment for a brave and God loving community. After spending a lot of time in the heaven Maharishi Durvasa who was famous for his anger , One day met with Brahma, After observing Maharishi's worried face Brahma asked "" Maharishi each and every comfort is available here then what is keeping you so uneasy that even your face is not reflecting the natural and normal charm of heaven ? ""

“O! Brahma! I was thinking about my grandsons and their grandsons, who are living on earth and in heredity have the same anger which I used to have." replied Durvasa.

"Don't bother about them” Brahma said " Most of them have learned to Smile and are no more slave of anger." This hypothetical dialogue of Brahma and Durvasa is able to clarify the importance of SMILE for our life."

How the smile is capable of bringing even the God in the life, to illustrate it I would like to quote a story heard by us from our mother. There was a widow living in a small village with her only six year old son. One day she told a story to her son about the mercy of the God. The son decided to leave the house and go for the meeting with God. Mother tried her level best but boy remain unmoved from his decision, So she told “O.K. Son tomorrow morning you can go but promise me that if you are unable to find God within two days, you will return home.” As boy was loving mother too much so he promise for that. Next day early in the morning when the boy was ready to leave mother handed over him some food to eat when he feel hungry. The boy went away and the mother started praying God for the safety of the kid. She was surprised to see the son back at home before the night start growing. The face of boy was the clear indication of his success. The boy narrated that it was about the mid day, in the deep forest when he decided to have meal and went to shadow of a tree on the river bank, he saw an old man sleeping there and was awaken by the moments of the boy there. “Is that old man told you, that he is God?” mother asked him.
“No mother! He seems to be deaf and dump.” Boy replied, “We have taken meal together. Together we feed some food to fishes in the river and enjoyed the swimming and dancing moments. At the time of sunset the old man went away without talking a single word with me, but his smile was assuring me that he was none else but the God.”

Now the question of million dollars “When to Smile?" surely this short question belongs to rare type of question whose perfect and universally accepted answer is almost impossible , but certainly there are few situations which we have to keep in our mind ,so our smile will not produce " devil's effect" instead of its usual " Devine effect."

According to tiny knowledge and experience of mine a few such situations are: -

* Don't smile\laugh at a friend who is in trouble, even you warn him repeatedly and he acted against your advice to fall pray of trouble.

* Avoid laughing \ smiling at humanitarian weakness and mistakes committed by others, because usually a common man is deprived of the strong courage needed to acknowledge owns weakness and faults.

* Don't make a joke on others personal life to bring smile on your & others lips. Always remember that, the part of life on which you are making joke, is a prohibited area for the trespassers & hence is called personal life.

This is such an endless list which can be continuously revised & expanded according to our own knowledge and experience. The only thing which we have to keep in our mind is, this God gifted Smile must be utilize only to heal the humanity and not for making a wound to one's vanity.

Expansion of the lips is not called the smile

One that gives relief to the patients

One which gives feeling of HOPE even in the distress

to that light of life we call smile.
