India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [9] Corporate Agriculture

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [9] Corporate Agriculture

[
India has competed 60 years of independence and to mark this, I am presenting this series of Articles, about the words, that are meaning a lot for the progress of the country. If you feel I missed some thing [For listing of words see the first article “India: 60 Years: 60 Words”] do inform me at premputar@gmail.com I will try to include that at the end of series]

Over the years India is the country of formers and Indian economy is the world’s best illustration for the agricultural economy. Today even after the 60 years of independence, achieving high rated technical excellence, high industrial growth and entering into world market of launching the satellite, majority of Indian population is the village population and fallows the agricultural economy.

Concepts like the “Green Revolution”, “Cash Crops”, “Second Crop” and “Simultaneous Works like the Poultry” etc. has not only boosted the agricultural production to go beyond the limits of self sufficiency but also worked for the addition to the monetary wealth of the formers. Rich flora and fauna diversified climatic conditions of the country when bundled with the new improvised way of forming and technical excellence resulted in producing a magical effect of taking the country into list of world exporters for many agricultural yielding like the Onion, flowers, sugar, cotton, herbal products, tea and spices etc.

Corporate agriculture is the most recent addition to the vocabulary and dictionary of the Indian formers, though this new concept is being opposed by the majority of formers because the stiff competition and war of survival, which might be going to become the most threatening effect of this concept for the individual formers. Surely the large investment capacities and reach to modernization with better and effective storage facilities will put the corporate sector ahead of the common individual formers. Indian formers welcomed the co-operative moment because in this there was a space for keeping the individual identity intact but the most fearful perception about the corporate agriculture is the loosing this identity.

Why the corporate sector is aiming at this village economy? Is the question, without addressing to which it is going to be tough and irrelevant to deal with and understand the new concept in its totality. World’s present super power America is on the roads of weakening and new economic centre is bound to emerge only two economies of the world China and India are speeding in this direction, in the industry and commerce competition is growing to become stiff day by day and forcing corporate sector to search new horizons for existences, diversified climatic conditions and liberal government policies towards the agricultural based activities is making the field ideal for entrance of the capitalist groups into scene in the India. Above all the agricultural sector of India is primarily constituted from the huge number of small and non associate farmers and this is the most attracting thing for the corporate sector.

Corporate agricultural will bring the old days of farmer slavery or Jamidar systems and all the land reforms of 60 years will turn meaningless is the thought wave of the group opposing the entrance of the corporate sector in the agricultural arena. The probable difference might be caused by the present village education levels of the country and might not the Indian farmers fall pray to any trap of the capitalist groups, besides that experience of working with cooperative societies is also going to help the farmers for getting a better deal and more beneficial contract from the corporate sector. All what I see will happen that with increased inflow of investment more technological excellence will involved, more advanced techniques will be part of day to day farming, better storage facilities will going to increase the earnings and might the agricultural exports go on to match other sectors on the front of earning foreign currencies for the country. Though it will be going to add responsibilities of the government as safeguarding the welfare and rights of non united and isolated farmers will go on to higher priority list and government will be pressurized to come with laws favoring the farmers in case of dispute so the corporate sector should not get upper hand only on the bases of huge invest mental capacities.

India Republic Day

India Republic Day

In fact I was with mind set of coming with this at the end of my on going series of articles “India: 60 Years: 60 words” [being published at
http://mysrticleworld.blogspot.com ] and for keeping this series non interrupted I had shifted my cricket blogs and other writing to http://indiatravelworld.blogspot.com but the celebrations of the republic day forced me to interrupted the series with this.

Over the centuries India was the country of some rigid and static symbolization for the rest of the human world. World was changing frequently but India was progressing with same ideology of living and vision towards the life. Time is the learning school from where we learn to adopt and select the roads of success; time is the fire which melts up to reshaped in new and effective user of talent and ability. All the 60 years of post independence era for Indians had worked as this time.

All these years are the stories of revolutions faced and successfully tackled by the human ocean from the India. The independence itself was a revolution in which seeds of infinite revolutions were present in dormant status. A saint with Mobile, towering building, increasing call centers, freely moving working class women, homes with high definition consumer electronics, immense skilled man power, self sufficient on the fronts of Agricultural productions, express high ways, vigorously growing economic power of the world, new entry to space and atomic energy fields etc. are the few images of modern India.

Changing the face of a nation is not an overnight act and India is also not allowed to by pass this long time consuming process. What the image modern India is reflecting is the end products of various completed and on going revolutions in the thought ocean of Indians. The most interesting part of Indian progress and developmental revolutions is that each of them originated and can be narrated in a single word, a few illustrations are Education, Green Revolution, Operation flood, Mobiles, Finance, Sensex, Tourism, women liberalization, Land reforms, Economic reforms etc. some of these are already covered in the series and rest will be covered in due course of time.

This republic day is being important in the sense that the revolutionary moments of these 60 years are started to work for making the country a real super power of the world. I am concluding this with my best wishes to every Indian in all parts of globe on this occasion of national celebration.

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [8] Co-operative Movement

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [8] Co-operative Movement

[India has competed 60 years of independence and to mark this, I am presenting this series of Articles, about the words, that are meaning a lot for the progress of the country. If you feel I missed some thing [For listing of words see the first article “India: 60 Years: 60 Words”] do inform me at premputar@gmail.com I will try to include that at the end of series]

Progress of free India on the roads of development and industrialization get boosted with co-operative movement and some schemes like “operation flood” or white revolution [1960] which had not only increased the productivity but also put the country on the roads of self sufficiency. Seeds of mutual understanding and co-operation are the integral part of Indian though process since the centuries and runs into blood as an inherent character of Indians. In the early years of post independence era it was felt, this Indians character can work as the most important factor for the speeding of developmental growth of the country, if we can provide a nourishing and favorable atmosphere for the germination of these seeds of centuries.

The co-operative movement in India can be bifurcated into
1] Agricultural cooperative societies
2] Non agricultural cooperative societies
The majority of working fields of the cooperative societies can be enlisted as follows
Agricultural Credit
Agricultural supplies
Agricultural Marketing
Agricultural Processing
Functional co-operatives in the fields like dairy, poultry, fisheries, fruits, vegetables etc.
Industrial co-operatives
Public Distribution of essential commodities through consumer co-operatives
Urban credit Co-operatives
Housing co-operatives

Though through out the country effects of cooperation are visible but in the states like the Maharashtra and Gujarat this movement has worked as the root cause of development, growth and back bone to upcoming of village economy, where as in the states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan etc. impacts of this movement are more prominently visible.

Some, institutions and organization, like Indian Farmers Fertilizer Co-operative LTD (IFFCO), with over 30,000 cooperative societies is working successfully in setting up an effective marketing network in most of the states for selling modern farming technology instead of fertilizers alone. The National Agricultural Co-operative Marketing Federation (NAFED) has over 5000 marketing societies. These societies operate at the local wholesale market level and handle agricultural produce, are boosting this movement. It is a fact that in the banking sector the success story is no so pleasant one.

The success story of cooperative movement can be read with development of co-operative banks and agricultural industries in the Maharashtra and Amul [Anand Milk Union Limited], a cooperative society of a small village of Gujarat, which went on to become biggest brand of milk, milk and dairy product in the free India. In the 1960 National Dairy Development Board agreed to adopt the Amul model and implemented “operation Flood” and made the milk economy to reach to economy of Rs. 2,00,000 crores.

In the states like the Maharashtra, this cooperative movement doesn’t remained limited to welfare of formers as the pioneer of movement in the state, Late Shri Vasant Dada Patil went on to become the Chief Minister and former leaders like Sharad Joshi and Raju Sheety elected for the upper house [Rajya Sabha] of Parliament and M. L.A. respectively. The dominance by the sugar belt or onion producers in the sharing of political powers is the best illustration of importance of cooperative movement in the political arena of the state. It is fact that entrance into politics proved harmful for the primary objectives of the movement, which is being reflected from the deficits of numerous cooperative banks and their huge non functional assets in the state, but the part played by the cooperative sugar factories and agricultural societies in the economic and industrial development has not only covered the failure in the banking sector but also highlights the importance of this movement towards the making the country super power in the next few years.

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [7] Communism

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [7] Communism

[India has competed 60 years of independence and to mark this, I am presenting this series of Articles, about the words, that are meaning a lot for the progress of the country. India is the ocean of thought streams and always there is a room vacant for emergence and merger of new stream of thought. The beauty of Indians thought stream lies in its absorbing powers, which in no time only get accustomed of good of new thought streams but expands worm arms in the welcome of new stream to make it a part of main stream of Indian thought. The probable reason of diversified cultural, social, religious customs and tradition present in the various parts of the country lies with this ability.

If we look at the growth history of communism in the country it all was started around the years of 1940’s as the agitation of deprived people away from the main growth stream. Growth and development process of free India never worked for blocking the space for difference of opinion and worked with positive effects of true democratic set up of rulings. In the initial years of independence of the country a few agitations, like the coconut labor unrest and farmer revolution against the Nizams of Hyderabad, which were tackled successfully by newly constituted state governments, had only found the rooting grounds for the communism in India but also provided a political ground for the expansion, hence the final drafting’s of Indian constitution in 1950’s was reflecting effects of presence of communism in main thought stream of Indians.

The political sky of the country was and is loaded with the governments leaded by the various communist parties, which are presently being identified as the left front, in the states like the Kerala and West Bengal etc. Though in these 60 years of independence communist parties were unable to expand their effect areas beyond the traditional strong holds but actions like very high literacy rate in Kerala and industrial and commerce growth in West Bengal went on to pay the communist parties in the political arena of the country. At present they are so strong that even the stability of central government is dependable to a great extend of their support. It is fact that during these 60 years local communist leadership had learned and adopted many lessons of democracy but when it comes to treaties like 123 with America they returned back to their traditional attitude and instead of going for creating a public awareness against the treaty, went on to threatening government to foot back for the sack of stability of government of ruling alliance.

Still there is lot of the people who dislikes the communism but surely the communist parties must be appreciated for the high literacy rates, bringing social uniformity, industrial growth, agricultural advancement and demolishing painful and human rights violating traditions like “Veti-Chakari” [bonded labor] in the states ruled by them during these 60years. At present communism is no more a foreign thought but is a part of wisdom and political main stream of the country and marching in tandem with others to make the India super power of the world in very near future.

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [6] Caste Balance

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [6] Caste Balance

[India has competed 60 years of independence and to mark this, I am presenting this series of Articles, about the words, that are meaning a lot for the progress of the country. If you feel I missed some thing [For listing of words see the first article “India: 60 Years: 60 Words”] do inform me at

We might not be wrong if we say that human civilization is the story of division, clash and tendency of showing one’s supremacy over the others by the human societies over the issue of caste. A few might would like to bundle the religion with this also. In Hindi “Jat” is the word for the caste and “Jat” means the one which is being held by human beings since the day of their birth [Janam] on the earth. Often people intended to mix the caste with religion and use these two different words in the capacity of reflecting the same meaning though the ground reality is not the same. Look at the Hinduism, the oldest life style of human beings on the earth, Hindu is taken as one the various religions of human beings, but when it comes to caste, Hindus shows numerous and higher number of castes, than any other religion of the world. India being a country with huge Hindu population has to keep this caste balance to its integrity and at the levels of justification for all for keeping the boosted growth and development of the country.

India was the first country to introduce constitution of human society on the bases of work, in the ancient India this was known as the “varana Aadharit Samaj”. The division was made on the format of earning the livelihood by the society members. Sector of the society related with the expansion and development of educational abilities was known as “Brahamans”, soldiers of the society were the “Chhatriya”, care of economy, commerce and industry was taken by the sector named “Vaishiya” where as the serving sector of the society was classified as the “Shudara”.

In the post Mahabharat era, the war which resulted in death reason for over 18 carors males, Indian societies went under the change in the formation of society and a new system “Varan Sankar” caste free society started to emerge. Scarcity of male members and abundance of female members was hurdling the development of rules and regulations of new society and the progress of creating a new social atmosphere was at the slowest growth rate.

Unfortunately, country went under the rule by Mugal Dynasties and British Kingdom for few centuries and this has affected the growth and development of newly formed caste free society, rather we can say that seeds of dividing the Indian society on the bases of caste were sown in this era. For the safer side of kingdom, rulers of that time preferred to be watering factor for the widening the though difference valley of Indians. The seeds sown at that time are presently, after the 60 years of independence are appearing in the form of giant trees and threatening the progress of the country.

After the independence in 1947, many social reforms have been adopted and introduced towards the formation of uniform Indian community but unfortunately as the Indian political wisdom fail to choose the right direction and proper roads for the purpose, hence not only the valley of casteism went to become deeper and wider but also a new problem of regionalism, get chance of taking head out. Might be due to this even after the 60 years of independence the land is with abundance of Punjabi, Gujarati, Assamees, Bengali, Rajathathanis, Marathas, Sindhis etc. and it is a hard equation to find an Indian in India.

In the modern India the issue of caste and region are become such sensitive that most of the people even the intellectuals didn’t dare to talk or write about the topic just because who knows which word might be going to be the burning point. The itching of wound is that the political wisdom of the country instead of working for the elopement of caste valley prefers to utilize the caste based reservations as a tool of strengthening their vote banks. All this is resulting as the reason for more and more caste based clashes among the Indian society. The recent one is from the state of Rajasthan among the Gujars and Meenas communities.

60 years of post independence era are the clear indication that still we have to learn; in a uniform society mutual understanding and respect for each other are the foundation stones of co-existence and growth of the community and subsequently of the nation. There is no space for difference either on the caste or on the bases of region in such uniform society. I would like to quote few Hindi Words here “Dariya Jab Sagar se Milta Hai, Dariya Nahi hai Rahata, Boond Boond Se Milkar Hi Sagar Itna Takatwar Hai Banata.” [When a river gets merged with ocean it doesn’t remain a river, it is power of water droplets which makes oceans such powerful.]. Thus if we wish to see our nation at the status of super power of the world we have to forget about our caste or region. We have to raise our mental levels and be part of the Indian main stream; this is the only way of regaining our prestigious and historic holding of being the world leaders.

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [5] Bureaucracy

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [5] Bureaucracy

[India has competed 60 years of independence and to mark this, I am presenting this series of Articles, about the words, that are meaning a lot for the progress of the country. If you feel I missed some thing [For listing of words see the first article “India: 60 Years: 60 Words”] do inform me at premputar@gmail.com I will try to include that at the end of series]

From cricket to politics, from national policy making program to day to day governance of any format of government, presence and dominance of the bureaucrats is so strong that no one ca go away without feeling influence of it. It is not much to go for behind turning the history pages to see the over crowded news headlines of clash between central healths Minister Ramdas and Doctors from the most reputed medical institute of the country AIMS. Further depth of history pages will provided clear evidences for the presence and dominance of license and permit rule in the free industrial India. In fact the trend of dominance of bureaucracy was started with the introduction of educational system designed by Meccale in the post independence era for generating good knowledgeable servants which can work to help for strengthening the rooting of British Rule over the country.

After the independence political and social leadership of the country didn’t bother to think about changing the educational system as the priorities, aim and objectives of education surely changed with the ruling system. The probable reason for which the leadership not thought of educational system because they were the products of the that educational system, this thought also being reflected from the drafting of constitution of democratic setup which shows a huge inspiration from the constitution of British’s instead of democratic country America. All this has provided ample space for the dominance by the bureaucracy during the initial years of free India. Low literacy and unawareness of laws by the common citizens were the boosting and favorable factors for this dominance. It was only after the death of first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehuru that a thought of controlling bureaucracy was generated among the minds of the politicians of the country and in a few years time Prime Minister Indira Gandhi took first step in the direction with the Nationalisation of the Banking sector of the country. The momentum of reforms was kept on going by Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi with schemes like “One window Clarence” especially for the industry and foreign investment. M. Chidambaram the Union finance Minister also came forward with several steps and policy amendments which worked for the minimizing the bureaucratic interference.

During the rule of BJP, many sectors like the Telecommunication, Road Construction and Power Generation etc. were made open for local private sector and foreign investment. This has not only resulted in, reducing the dominance of bureaucracy, but also proved a reason, for speedy development of the country through the increased availability of infra structural facilities.

Though still a lot is needed to be done as still the inference and dominance of bureaucracy is at higher levels than what is observed in most of other older democratic setups of the world. Surely for the few sectors like industry, Telecommunication and foreign investment are a pleasant scene is there with a minimal interference of bureaucracy.

Indian railways might, will be the best illustration to indicate the positive effects of reducing the powers and interference by the bureaucracy. Over the years this largest Public sector of country was in action with considerable deficits. The scenario was altered by Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav, since he becomes the Union Railway Minister. Many people might, will flow with the thought that during all those years railways was under developmental phases, but does it was possible without a vision and implementation to bring a large sector like railways in the productive status from the trend of deficit of years? Surely here Lalu is entitled for an appreciation for writing the story with pen of minimizing the bureaucratic and make the system transparent to a great extant for the people in general.

Liberal economic policies, ever high going of achievements and use of technological excellence, up going educational levels , awareness towards the rights of common citizens and steeping in the by the judiciary into the working and defining the accountability are among the few other reasons which not only worked for the reduction of bureaucratic interference but also brought the bureaucracy on the road from where this is going to prove a great help for the country to regain the prestigious past holding of being the world leaders and speed up the journey of the country on the roads intended to make India world’s super powers in next few years.

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [4] Ayurvedic and Yoga

[India has competed 60 years of independence and to mark this, I am presenting this series of Articles, about the words, that are meaning a lot for the progress of the country. If you feel I missed some thing [For listing of words see the first article “India: 60 Years: 60 Words”] do inform me at

If we look into ancient human life style, we are bound to realize that life was very closely related with nature and more stress was on the natural use of things. The most adverse and socially damaging effect of technological advancement on human life is converting the human actions into mechanical one and drawing the life away from nature. Towards the end of nineteenth century it was felt that this artificial base of life will going to prove reason of filling the individual and social life of human beings with stresses and pressures and it will be going to hard to find ways of human relaxations. Modern health and physical sciences forced to revert back to nature in search of remedy for the unavailability of relaxation and in the mid of twentieth century say between 1940 and 1970 ayurvedic and yoga had started to find again their natural place in the human life.

In the present market dominated life style Yoga alone is a commodity with an annual turnover of billion dollars. People from the America & Western countries are finding immense attraction for this life style called Yoga, which believes in and is based up on the theory of self control and knowing to self are the best and most effective natural tools to keep the life free from the stresses and pressures.

With the growth of modern medicinal facilities it also become a known fact that most of Allopathic medicines comes with one or more side effects. Most of literate are aware of the fact that most commonly taken allopathic medicine for the relief from the joint and other body pains comes with some side effects which might prove harmful and damaging for the vital body organ kidney. As the awareness went on spreading more and more people started to return back to roots and went on to opt the Ayurvedic therapy of medicinal science at least in the disease where surgery is not the only option.

Look at the present markets, from health to beauty presence of Ayurvedic and herbal products is significant. Modern technological excellence is helping in the bulk production of these goods. This ancient Indian science of health which was treated once by the rest of the world as the weapon of quack is finding an important place in the modern life style and turning into business of billions. The race for the patent and trade mark of Turmeric and Neem is more than sufficient to narrate the importance and economic values of these products. Yet another evidence of increasing attraction towards this health science is reflecting from the increasing numbers of tourist from America and Europe are visiting Kerala the southern Indian state with the fame of being the mother land for the Ayurvedic massage.

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [3] Art & Culture

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [3] Art & Culture

India has competed 60 years of independence and to mark this, I am presenting this series of Articles, about the words, that are meaning a lot for the progress of the country. If you feel I missed some thing [For listing of words see the first article “India: 60 Years: 60 Words”] do inform me at

It is often said that aliveness of a country or community gets meaning and definition in the cultural heritage of the country/ community. India is the land with variety of rich cultural heritage and more importantly with unique way of artistic representation. I recall a discussion at one of restaurant in which one person was suggesting another to put “Sita Vanvas” an important and revolutionary happening of Mahabharat on the canvas, his idea was to draw two white parallel lines on the black back ground. According to him back ground will reflect the pains and sorrow of Sita for being separated from husband Shri Ram and other family members without being guilty and responsible for it. Two parallel lines will indicate passing of chariot of Sita being passed from that place. I am including this just to show how innovative Indians are when it comes to artistic expression of the culture.

As the Indian culture is going, to find place in various other writings of this series hence the main stress here will remain concentrated to art. In the vision of Indians art is just not limited to play of brush, colors and canvas but everything related to life and finds expression in attractive style falls under the heading of art, even a new and different hair style. Most of the world will take as the fashion but for Indians as this the artistic expression of self hence is an art.

Art was the hobby and not the profession for Indians over the years and thus is deeply rooted into their life, this was beyond the limitations of commercialization thus artist here were free to chose the style suited to their own mood and related with the topics. It has passed centuries know but still millions of people are finding “Ajantta Ellora Caves”, “Konark Sun Temple” and “Khajurao” as the world’s best artistic expression.

The process of global commercialization went on to expand its wings to cover almost every aspect of human life and Indian life style doesn’t remain unaffected from it. This might be the pressures and demands of commercial obligations forcing to artist like M F Hussain to go for painting nude Indians women ideals and be the reason of controversy all over the world. What else he might or not gained from this but surely his these efforts have made him popular and in the modern times popularity is working in tandem as an asset to in cash and a weapon to destroy the opponent. Recently concluded two of dancing competitions of celebrities [Nach and Jhalak] on the television can be taken as the illustration of powers of popularity, in both of these reality shows, the pair with inferior dancing skills went on to win the competition on the bases of sheer popular votes.

Global commercialization and market movers had forced Indians to learn the “economy of art” and a few institutions like the J.J. School of art Mumbai have started to be part of choice options for Indian students. Native visitors to art galleries in India started to be bulk in number and common people are finding it worth to explain the minute understandings of art to upcoming generations, fairly young kids in these art galleries.

Amrita Shergil, F N suja and Satish Gujral not only gained fame for self but also entered into territory which was taken as the traditional holding and field ground of art supremo from the Europe.

The pleasant change of post independence era of India includes the growth in the art consciousness of common citizens. Artist even from the small cities like Kolhapur are not only realizing the importance of wider exposure of art but also opting for their web presence in the form of even personal web sites. The one I know is Shri Dhairyasheel Mane [URL:

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [2] Air Travel

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [2] Air Travel

Time has changed in true sense for the Indians since past few say one decade or so, luxury of life started to filter in the life of common Indian homes. Air conditioners, High definition consumer electronic goods and even the Air travel are no more limited to elites. Common Indians are finding them within the reach and enjoying them.

A few days back I read news that in the coming budget for railways a cut in fare is not a remote speculation. According to railway officials train journey in the country being challenged by increasing Air travel facilities and railways has to loose on revenue fronts, specially by loosing the higher class travelers who are opting for comparatively time saving and financially cheap air travel facilities.

Just have a look on the graph showing the growth in internal air travel in India for the year 2006 it shows a sounding growth of 46%. Static shows that at among the 9 major airports growth in air traffic is more than 50% , at Delhi it was 27.1%, at Nagpur it was 94.8% at Port Blayer it was at record 141.8% other significant cities of the list includes Pune, Coimbtoor, Manglore, Hyderabad and Jaipur. Inclusion of small and medium population cities in this is indicative of diversion of Indian attitude towards traveling and increased affordability of common Indians. According to civil aviation minister Shri Priful Patel, in coming one – two years about 50 more cities are going to find place on the map of air travel facilities in the country.

Time saved, affordable rates, facilities offered are among the star attractions of boost in internal air traffic. Induction of private sector is yet another reasons boost. Every aviation company is leaving nothing left for reading their traffic graph showing a constant growth. A few facilities offered by various aviation companies includes

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [1] Assam Unrest

India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [1] Assam Unrest

[India has competed 60 years of independence and to mark this, I am presenting this series of Articles, about the words, that are meaning a lot for the progress of the country. If you feel I missed some thing [For listing of words see the first article “India: 60 Years: 60 Words”] do inform me at
premputar@gmail.com I will try to include that at the end of series]

Regional and geographical situation of Indian state Assam is making it easy entrance gate into India for the people from the neighboring nation Bangladesh. Over the years this migration is proving a thorn in the flesh and there are huge complains about the rights of native citizens being over shadowed by the presence of these Bangladeshi people there in the state. It is the beauty and deed to be appreciated that in our democratic set up, our social institutions always succeeded in converting various social problems linked with the political situations and consciousness of the area and the country. Assam unrest was illustration of this, which was merged into politics of Assam during the years from 1979 to 1985. All these years the situation was taken and identified as the success of democratic set up allowing people to raise their voice for the violation of their rights.

All Assam Student Union and All Assam Gan Sangram Parshid who were leading the protest against the migration of Bangladeshi citizens and agitating for making the rights of native citizens safe guarded by introduction of law preventing the migration, reached to consent with central government of India and fresh Assembly Elections were held in the state in the year 1985. Assam Gan Parshid came into power under the leadership of Shri Priffulkumar Mahant but the problem of illegal migration from Bangladesh remained unsolved. In fact by that time the problem turn into identification of migrated Bangladeshi, as many of them were listed in the electoral list of the state, though a considerable break was seen in number of new migrants. Central government has passed a bill [IMDT] in the year 1983 to tackle the problem of illegal migration and identification of these migrants. The implementation of the law was under the shadows of irregularities and provided space for criticism and adverse remarks by the Supreme Court of India in the July 2005.

Communal harmony in the Assam is under the constant threat ever since the emergence of problem and social relations of Hindu Muslims are going through tense phase and at the worst situation. According to United Liberation Front of Assam [ULFA], which is in the existence there since 1979 and presently leading the agitation and protest activities, Assam Pact failed because governments in all these years failed to take care about the rights of native citizens.

Assam Unrest was not a 100% violence free agitation since the start, unfortunately the situations there are now turning into Assamees and rest of Indians, and this is being reflected from the killing of 33 labors from the Bihar by ULFA fundamentalist in the January 2007. This is the right time that citizen of the state should realize that violence was never part of Indian life style and the problem of migration is not just of the state but also of the nation. We the Indians are people progressing by making our diversity as our strength and believe in the “Unity in diversity”. We have to remember no plant grow without watering and situation in the state is not different from the Jammu & Kashmir, where militants are getting support from the native citizen, here also the migrants are being supported by at least a fraction of native population and that is proving the main hurdle for the solution of problem.
