India: 60 Years: 60 Words: [6] Caste Balance

[India has competed 60 years of independence and to mark this, I am presenting this series of Articles, about the words, that are meaning a lot for the progress of the country. We might not be wrong if we say that human civilization is the story of division, clash and tendency of showing one’s supremacy over the others by the human societies over the issue of caste. A few might would like to bundle the religion with this also. In Hindi “Jat” is the word for the caste and “Jat” means the one which is being held by human beings since the day of their birth [Janam] on the earth. Often people intended to mix the caste with religion and use these two different words in the capacity of reflecting the same meaning though the ground reality is not the same. Look at the Hinduism, the oldest life style of human beings on the earth, Hindu is taken as one the various religions of human beings, but when it comes to caste, Hindus shows numerous and higher number of castes, than any other religion of the world. India being a country with huge Hindu population has to keep this caste balance to its integrity and at the levels of justification for all for keeping the boosted growth and development of the country.

India was the first country to introduce constitution of human society on the bases of work, in the ancient India this was known as the “varana Aadharit Samaj”. The division was made on the format of earning the livelihood by the society members. Sector of the society related with the expansion and development of educational abilities was known as “Brahamans”, soldiers of the society were the “Chhatriya”, care of economy, commerce and industry was taken by the sector named “Vaishiya” where as the serving sector of the society was classified as the “Shudara”.

In the post Mahabharat era, the war which resulted in death reason for over 18 carors males, Indian societies went under the change in the formation of society and a new system “Varan Sankar” caste free society started to emerge. Scarcity of male members and abundance of female members was hurdling the development of rules and regulations of new society and the progress of creating a new social atmosphere was at the slowest growth rate.

Unfortunately, country went under the rule by Mugal Dynasties and British Kingdom for few centuries and this has affected the growth and development of newly formed caste free society, rather we can say that seeds of dividing the Indian society on the bases of caste were sown in this era. For the safer side of kingdom, rulers of that time preferred to be watering factor for the widening the though difference valley of Indians. The seeds sown at that time are presently, after the 60 years of independence are appearing in the form of giant trees and threatening the progress of the country.

After the independence in 1947, many social reforms have been adopted and introduced towards the formation of uniform Indian community but unfortunately as the Indian political wisdom fail to choose the right direction and proper roads for the purpose, hence not only the valley of casteism went to become deeper and wider but also a new problem of regionalism, get chance of taking head out. Might be due to this even after the 60 years of independence the land is with abundance of Punjabi, Gujarati, Assamees, Bengali, Rajathathanis, Marathas, Sindhis etc. and it is a hard equation to find an Indian in India.

In the modern India the issue of caste and region are become such sensitive that most of the people even the intellectuals didn’t dare to talk or write about the topic just because who knows which word might be going to be the burning point. The itching of wound is that the political wisdom of the country instead of working for the elopement of caste valley prefers to utilize the caste based reservations as a tool of strengthening their vote banks. All this is resulting as the reason for more and more caste based clashes among the Indian society. The recent one is from the state of Rajasthan among the Gujars and Meenas communities.

60 years of post independence era are the clear indication that still we have to learn; in a uniform society mutual understanding and respect for each other are the foundation stones of co-existence and growth of the community and subsequently of the nation. There is no space for difference either on the caste or on the bases of region in such uniform society. I would like to quote few Hindi Words here “Dariya Jab Sagar se Milta Hai, Dariya Nahi hai Rahata, Boond Boond Se Milkar Hi Sagar Itna Takatwar Hai Banata.” [When a river gets merged with ocean it doesn’t remain a river, it is power of water droplets which makes oceans such powerful.]. Thus if we wish to see our nation at the status of super power of the world we have to forget about our caste or region. We have to raise our mental levels and be part of the Indian main stream; this is the only way of regaining our prestigious and historic holding of being the world leaders.

Rivalry

Rivalry
Human inner world is the deepest and the longest ocean of course of the emotions. Rivalry is one among the emotions which dominate and provide directions to human life and acts. It is often said death of the enemy is the death end of rivalry also, even in the world oldest language Sanskrit also go like “Maranatani Vairani” means all the rivalry ends with death. Literary it sound quite perfect but practically we know this is the wrong presentation of the reality as we know rivalry goes from generation to generation which means death is not the end point of it.
In fact rivalry lies within our self hence it doesn’t end with the death of our enemy but prompt us to find more new enemies to keep the out flow of rivalry. There is only one way to kill the rivalry, to kill it at its generating source that is our inner world. Until our conscious or unconscious mind is under the influence of this emotion we can say rivalry is no more. In fact rivalry is like the anger and is more harmful for our own self instead of our enemy like the anger. I recall a book of Dada Vaswani “Burn Anger before it burns you” and wish to say the same for the rivalry. Keep the rivalry away from your inner world for the sack of peaceful life for the self.
Emotion of rivalry is the beat illustration of bonsai, as it is present in the micro format hence it is hard to feel its present within our self but a few important significant marks can make us aware of its presence. A person with emotion of rivalry is like to be intro ward and self centered, he/she will never appear in a pleasant mood and at the most of the times flows with the tides of sadness without any reason. In the view of such person whole world except self is the population of bad people. When I tried to find an illustration from the history my search ended with Duryodhan of Mahabharat era. Once Guru Dronacharya asked him to find a good person in the capital city Hasthinapur and in the evening Duryodhan returned with a failure. Those are aware of Mahabharat and history of Pandavas and Kouravas will agree with that it was the rivalry emotion of Duryodhan, which was creating problems not only for himself but also for all the persons around him and supporting him.
I recall once some where I read that Osho “Acharya Rajanish” says that when we under go feeling happiness on listen about the punishment given to a criminal, thinking that it will prove a lesson for him and others in fact we are flowing with the emotion of rivalry in the respect of being law binding citizens. We practically know punishment is not proving a lesson for the criminals and others because the crime rate graphs is on the higher side in every era in comparison of past era.
How to kill the rivalry, without answer it and concluding this article will be like seating at the river bank with thirsty trunk. The only way to kill the rivalry is to fill the inner world of self with the emotions of love and peace without leaving a space vacant for the rivalry. I would like to conclude this with world of my father late Dr. Premchand Manghirmalani, you need to have a piece of cold iron to cut the hot iron.

Volatile Fame

Volatile Fame

Waves of fame are always there to blow you out of the world, myself and my son were discussing about the behavioral changes of M.S.Dhoni, captain of twenty-20 world cup winner Indian cricket team and the most recent rider of fame waves from the Indian sports world. It was good to note that Dhoni is still finding the surface of reality under his steps and doesn't show visible signs of being blown away with all of sudden high fame waves. Success is bound to bring fame and along with so many other things "fame" is also affected from our speeding and technology filled life style. Our present life style is making the fame most unstable and volatile aspect of the human life, fame is going to become as much temporary in nature as more we are progressing towards the commercialization. It is fact that in the show business fame was never a stable thing and was often changing hands but the present non stability, start existing over night and vanishing with amazing and unbelievable speed, was also not the characteristic of the fame. We Indians have a very high respect and importance of fame in our life, our history says that "Raja Harishchandera" has given all his wealth and kingdom, just because he dreamed about donating it and wishes to keep his fame of speaking and being follower of truth. "Arjun" is still with the fame of best archer of the world even after the millions and millions years after the "Mahabharat" era. Change is the constant and ever existing rule of the life and always affected human life and concept of fame. The modern technology based life style is turning the human life into a market place and making the fame volatile and temporary in nature. The reality shows of Indian TV screen are not only producing "fame" for the younger generations but also affecting the life style.

Abhijeet Sawant, Sandeep Acharya, Sanjeevani, Debojit, Toukir Kazi, and Amit Sana are the few names for whom this "fame" of reality shows has produced an unmatched identification and they become a known face in millions of Indian homes but no body knows where these are today? Can you recall the name of only lady finalist of reality show "Laughter Challenge"? All this is happening just because slowly and gradually but surely our life is going to be part of market and these reality shows are generating favorable conditions for this. Just recall "Ravindera" of Indian idol first, at every step his voice was judged as most unmelodious but only the votes from Punjab, his home state made him to qualify for the top five singers of the contest. Another worst effect of these reality shows is that, these shows gives fame to one out of million but for the rest generates dreams of overnight fame, which often results in pseudo confidence and guiding the human life towards the more selfish end, with the multiple layers of frustration, agony, anguish and un satisfaction.

It is fact that these reality shows and talent hunts are creating opportunities for the sub urban and rural Indian talent, providing them a platform to prove their worth and exhibit ones skills but if you look at purpose of these, they are not being organized with the same aim and objective. These reality shows are the best ways of earning , It is said that for the recently concluded "Indian Idol 3" over 10 carors [100 million] SMS votes were received by the organizers during the final, favoring either to "Prashant" or to "Amit". Even if we consider that out of Rs. 3 paid for every SMS, organizers are getting just one rupee it will become a considerable and real huge income. Here we have to keep it in the mind that this income is only from the final, income from the various previous rounds is not taken in consideration and what ever the organizers are expensing for the conducting these shows, they are earning more than of that, from the sponsors of the show. The worst thing of these shows is that their circle is expanding to childhood and even to interiors of our family life as they are encouraging even mothers to be part of these shows.

This is the right time for every one to think about this, we can't allow this to go on as it is simply because this greed of "Volatile Fame" will turn our family life into a commodity. Do we wish and ready for making life a commodity available at market? Before it become incurable we have to make our self aware of reality of these reality shows and prevent self from being part of it. I am concluding this with the statement of Mr. Gajendra Singh, one of most respectful name from the world of these reality shows, "We can't make any one star over night, we are just giving exposure to talent and creating an opportunity for the entrance into this tough world of competition for the success". I think his words are the real mirror and we need to look into this mirror before falling pray and proceeding on the path of this pseudo and volatile fame.

POWER

Have you ever thought what was the reason for the so many wars, starting with Mahabharat to World Wars? What is force behind the presence of American forces, thousand of miles away from their motherland, in the Vietnam or Iraq or Afghanistan? Why Ernico frame, Alfred Nobel and other scientist are engaged in the creation of weapons for which they are also sure that these will be used only to destroy the human presence on the earth? Every nation of the globe is well versed with the demolishing capacities of nuclear energy but that is not preventing them to expense a real huge lot of national income for accruing this?

All the above questions are with same single word answer. All the above human activities are for gaining and showing that single word.This single word that from the centuries has converted men into an inventor, a dictator, a businessman is composed of just five laders like that of human body composed of Five elements, Prithvi[earth],Agani[Fire] Vayu[Air], Jal [water] and Aakash [Space], I know by this time you had started thinking and searching your vocabulary for that word hance I am stoping play with your patience and providing you with that word POWER.


It is the temptation of gaining power that is forcing human beings to work beyond their capacities, implement non ethical things in life, create a deceptive image of self. This greed of power has lowered the importance of life values in the human life because today we are in the blind rat race of either gaining power or showing the same. This human tendency of illustrating self power is not a new adaptation to human behavior but is an intigeral part since so many centuries, just think why the King Ravan was forced to kidnap Sita, not because of, in the revenge of cutting the nose of Shuranpankha [His sister] by the Laxman, but he wish to show the powers that he holds. The same attitude is reflecting from many of actions taken by the Americans in the present era. What is meaning of recent statement of Rahul Gandhi with reference to Ayodhya issue, it is nothing but the expression of the power, with a hidden desire of gaining more power.

I have chosen, from the dictionary , following meaningful words to define this word power.

P = Prepared
O = Obituary
W = Works
E = Eschatology
R = Rotation

Who holds power? One who is able and prepared to work in accordance with the doctrine of death and final destiny to understand the meaning and rotation of the notice of death is a person with power.


Coming to concluding part of the article What is power? Just think? It is said that Sanskrit is the mother of all languages and in Indian history a very high importance is given to Var[Boon]. The word power is in fact fusion of two Hindi words Pavan meaning Sacred and Var meaning Boon. Will you can deny that in this world there are a few handful human beings which can be isolated as the most powerful one? Now the question is that why this is ? The answer is very simple because these are the blessed people. These are blessed to serve the humanity like the Mother Teras. Every body in the world is with the seeds of this power one who desire to cultivate, take care with proper watering of realization and providing of manure of raising self, above the self can grow and enjoy the fruits of this tree of power.
